Black Screen before booting Windows

I upgraded to Windows 7 a while back from Windows Vista, and did not have a problem until now.
I restart my computer after having it on for a couple days since it was showing signs of lagging and hanging.
When it boots back up, I see the "Gateway" sceen and the system devices start up.
Usually after that the Windos logo would appear and Windows 7
would boot.
In this occasion it didn't.
I get stuck with a black screen.
There is no cursor, just a black screen.
I tried booting from the CD and restore to yesterday, but still no avail.
I cannot access Safe Mode by pressing F8.
My knowledge to computers
is limited, so any help would be appreciated.
