How to Fix Problem - Appcrash on Word 2007 while converting to PDF?

Appcrash on Word 2007 while converting to PDF

Currently using Office Suite 2007 on Vista, the Service Packs are SP3 and SP2 respectively.
Also using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, which is updated to 8.3.1.
When the user attempts to use the Convert PDF on the Adobe tab the process goes the following,
then gives the AppCrash error message:

Scanning document…
Converting Headings and Styles to Bookmarks..
Converting to Adobe PDF

Now Printing

Create Tabs
At the Create Tabs it immediately crashes.
(Admittedly that one goes by before the AppCrash error comes up fast that I think that’s what it says)
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: WINWORD.EXE
Application Version: 11.0.8313.0
Application Timestamp: 4a793d83
Fault Module Name: WINWORD.EXE
Fault Module Version: 11.0.8313.0

Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 004696d2
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.2
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
LCID: 1033
Brand: Office11Crash
skulcid: 1033

At first the document was on a shared server, however I did try it off the desktop, no change.
I also tried on smaller sized documents (test file is 66 pages) which ran normally, however not sure if the second file had the tabs for example or not.

When the user sent the file to print to the AdobePDF it works normally, except it doesn’t create the tabs part.

Try using the Word Save As PDF/XPS facility.

I asked him about that, it works but it doesn't.
Basically what he's trying to have is the bookmarks.
When he prints to the AdobePDF it does print but without the bookmarks.
When he uses the save as PDF/XPS it uses the exact function as the printing to the
AdobePDF and removes the bookmarks.

Now when he uses the Adobe Tab Convert to PDF button it does the same as saving as a Adobe PDF, it says "Publish" and all that, and goes through the routine I described above and fails.

So the bookmarking feature is very important here.
Yes, it can create the PDF but not using all the functionality that was purchased with the license.

If you click on the Options button in the Publish and PDF or XPS dialog, you can select an option to create Bookmarks from Headings or Word Bookmakrs.

Run CHKDSK

  • Go to the Start button.
  • In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • Reboot your computer.
An error might pop up:

"Access denied as you do not have significant privileges. You have to invoke this utility in elevated mode."

If you receive the above error message, it means you are not logged into you computer as an Administrator. If that's the case, follow these steps to run the command prompt in elevated mode:

  • Go to theStart button.
  • Go to "All Programs > Accessories" and right click on "Command Prompt".
  • Select "Run as Administrator".
  • In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • Reboot your computer.
