Cannot copy & paste, drag & drop and create new folders

Hi there,
I wonder if you can help.
I have found that i am unable to cut, copy, paste, drag and drop and cretae new folders on my desktop and anywhere on the C Drive.
i am able to cut and paste in internet explorer and documents etc but am unable to do so with files etc.
The copy and paste and new folders are affected in both ctrl CXV shortcuts and also file - new, edit - cut copy paste and right click functions.
I have ran malware bytes and removed a trojan virus which i believe was in the registry but i am still unable to perform any of the above actions.
I do believe it is an issue with the registry but have no idea how i would go about resolving this.
The issue occured after i managed to remove an autorun.inf virus on my removable usb stick.
I cannot do a system restore as i have no points to back up to - i also cannot back up my files as i am unable to move them or create any new folders.
I have used CCleaner which has not repaired the issue.
I would greatly appreciate any support you may be able to offer.

Method 1.
Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue, and then replace the file.
To do this, follow these steps: 
Open an elevated command prompt.
To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password,
or click Allow.
Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
sfc /scannow
The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Method 2.
If you suspect any virus activity I would strongly recommend you to run an online Virus Scan.
Sometimes the installed security program might not be just enough.
I also recommend  you to update your security software regularly.

I would also recommend you to create a new user account with administrator rights and then check.

To check for Windows updates

  1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update.
  2. In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
  3. If any updates are found, click Install updates. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
