Hi,
I have an issue regarding DCOM/COM objects.
I have a bit of software, written in Delphi, which uses COM to communicate.
We have just updated our systems to Windows 7 from XP and the following issue has occured.
When using the software with XP, upon running the .exe an object was created in the Dcomcnfg in DCOM Config directory.
This allowed me to adjust parameters of the object such as location of where the software ran etc.
In Windows 7 this object does not get
created when I run the .exe.
The software does however start up locally, which suggests that the COM object is being created.
Am I write in thinking that if it wasn't, then this would prevent the software from working.
Are there changes in the way COM works in Windows 7 from XP? Does my software developer need to change something in the way he is implementing the installation of the object in his code?
Some background:
I am running a vb script via a third party software program.
This script talks to the bit of software which uses the COM object, but by adjusting the location properties in the object it re-directs the COM to another server.
But without the object I am unable
to adjust the location settings to achieve this requirement.
I log on to the computer as a local user that has full admin writes.
But as a test I tried adding the user to the secuirty permissions by right clicking on the properties of the Dcomcnfg/Component Services/Computers/My Computer, but this did not work.
Any
ideas?

Machine Throttling

• Click the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
• On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
• Reboot your computer.
