cannot fix microsoft word and click to run application

I have been trying to fix microsoft word now for several days to no avail.
I have uninstalled..reinstalled numerous times and tried to do updates and fixes from microsoft website.
Nothing works, the only message I am getting now is click-to-run configuration
failure.
I also cannot uninstall the click-to-run program at all.
It states there is a problem and contact microsoft.
